Withered Object

Description

I created this Object for a set piece in a render I did. I used displacement through a fast perlin fractal with cracks. It looks like it's about to crumble away.

.vob file

3 hours work time

Vue 9.5

Please download and have fun!

There is also the material files in the zip file. One is with less harsh bumps and the other one is a bit harsher.

Just load into Vue and apply the material to whatever you want to apply it to like normal.

***UPDATE***

Almost forgot to say that this is an object to to world-standard. It will change displacement whenever you move it. To fix this, just change it back to parametric.

Please ask if you don't know how! :)

Wow, this is really cool. There is such an impact on the viewer...you want to walk under it since there is a little archway, but at the same time, it's a vast area.

You definitely paid a lot of attention to detail, as shown with the cracks and even having small holes in some of the cork. The shadow maches up and you can tell that it's in a desert.

However, I don't know if it's because of the background and how it's so perfect...like the sand is only one color with no shade, or the sky is just white, but it actually makes the rock look out of place and in that way less real. It looks very real but at the same time it doesn't....that doesn't make any sense but that's what I get from it.

On a side note, it kind of looks like a face with it's mouth open facing down and resting on the sand...but I didn't mean that in a bad way!

Basically, for improvement, I would just pay more attention to the background, but it looks amazing! Yet again, another masterpiece has been created <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
